Point 2. THE INDISPENSABILITY OF STEADFAST HOLINESS WITHOUT HYPOCRISY

Hebrews 12:14; Luke 1:75; Romans 6:22; Ephesians 4:23-24; 5:25-27; Acts 24:16

There are lots of people that can do or act in a way that appears holy, but there is so much hypocrisy connected with their lifestyle. There can be hospitality with hypocrisy. Don’t allow your holiness to be outward righteousness with hypocrisy, for such will amount to nothing. Liberality with hypocrisy will not get anyone to heaven. Lot of innocence with hypocrisy like Pilate will not get you born again. Neighbourliness with hypocrisy; elevation or exaltation with hypocrisy like Jezebel did with Naboth; service with hypocrisy like Jehu – don’t mistake zealousness for holiness; servanthood with hypocrisy, all that will not get us to heaven. I pray God will wipe every form of hypocrisy from our hearts in Jesus’ name. There will be holiness in our heart not because of a church or denomination but that you are a child of God, and God is watching your life both in the public and private, and He listens to every conversation. The reason why we come to Church is that we will tell you what will take you to heaven. We don’t have preachers that will tell you what you want to hear. We are not here to make you happy; we are here to make you holy and get to Heaven. If you are happy without being holy, you will not get to heaven. But thank God your mind is to get to heaven.  “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). We have people who can quote the Bible, and yet they cannot be at peace with each other. Real holiness sent and approved from heaven will be in every life. “In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life” (Luke 1:75). ). Why then do we appear holy in Church and we are not holy in our places of work? We are dishonest and fraudulent; holy in dressing but in secret we are not holy. Why do we limit our holiness and separation from the world to only when we are in Church? Why are we not transparently, openly and permanently holy? Salvation and sanctification need to take place before that holiness is possible, and this is possible in our lives.  “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life” (Romans 6:22). There must be that experience that makes us free from sin; deliberate, besetting, presumptuous, secret, perpetual, common, occasional, sin and bad habits. He makes us free from sin, and now we are servants to God, not with eye service, and not to any man. If we fear man more than we fear God, we are not servants of God. Real holiness makes us to put God as number One. Persecution, oppositions and trials will come, but they are for a short time, and our end will be everlasting life. “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24). It is a recreation, that we go to God, and He recreates and refashions us to this true holiness and righteousness. “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it” (Ephesians 5:25). Here is holiness at home, place of work, community, and everywhere. Husband, do you practise this at home with your wife, to love her as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it? We are to make attempt to love one another as Christ has loved the Church. Holy from the heart, soul, in your thoughts, plans, actions, character, and without blemish and spotless. The Lord will do it in every life and we will allow Him to do it. “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men” (Acts 24:16). If we have that mind always not only on Sundays, or meeting days, to have a conscience without offence, we will be conscious of God in every discussion, action, interaction we have inside or outside the home. We will know that God listens to every conversation, interactions, relationships, and we will be conscious of this. In our relationship and interaction with one another, we are to have a conscience void of offence toward God and man, even when the man is not there. We will be truly saved, genuinely sanctified and having a conscience void of offence toward God and man. This is true holiness. To be godly and Christlike is produced in the heart as God’s work of grace. It is transparently being holy, righteous, faithful, truthful, just, pure, loving, forgiving, merciful, humble, harmless, spotless, blameless, obedient and gracious. God can do it and He will do it in every life.

Point 3. THE IMPERATIVE OF SCRIPTURAL HOLINESS FOR HEAVEN

1 Peter 1:14-16; Matthew 5:8; Psalms 24:3,4; Hebrews 13:12-14; Revelations 22:12-17

Our coming to church, getting saved, learning the bible and belonging to the church is not just to do religion, but we want to get to heaven on the final day. And it is imperative and compulsory to know the kind of holiness we should possess – scriptural holiness – if we want to get to heaven. To enter and be in heaven with God at last, there must be holiness, not man-made, so-so, dressing, denominational holiness, but scriptural holiness that comes with the real experience.  Think about your life, the way you talk today is that the way you were talking before you say you were born again, former lust, former conversation, former lifestyle? The way you interact with people today is that the way you have always been interacting before you professed salvation, the way you give now, sounding the trumpet, is that the way you have always been giving in the past (1 Peter 1:14) “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation” (1 Peter 1:15). Sometimes we hear that somebody has suddenly died, maybe in an accident (we pray it will not happen), and he had been in the church all through his lifetime, but in latter part of his life, whatever he heard in church he shrugged off and went his way: we forget that if God is not going to change, but keep to his Word, He expects that we are holy in all manner of conversation as He who has called us is holy. And you wonder that people that hear about holiness almost every week still remain with anger, animosity, hatred, obstinacy, in their heart; they remain lawless, incorrigible, naughty, disobedient, evil, envious, sensual and insensitive to the word of God. If such people die suddenly, God will not look at, he/she was a member of Deeper Life, but the holiness without which no man shall see the Lord which he never took seriously. As we know that the Lord can come at any time, please pray and have the genuine experience of salvation and sanctification and be committed to that, because of God. The Lord will do it for you and for me. We will be conscious of that required holiness at all time.  “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). There are many who may not be watching Television but are watching polluted things on their tablets, iPads and phones which make the heart impure. We stand on where we have always stood that, blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. If you are having anything that secretly makes you impure and polluted, may the Lord deliver you. May He keep us pure and righteous and preserve us in the experience of holiness, that we will not be missing when the trumpet shall sound, in Jesus’ name. ”He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully” (Psalm 24:4). If our coming to Church is to prepare us for heaven, then clean hands and a pure heart, the Lord will give us; He will make us holy and preserve us in holiness in Jesus’ name. “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. (Hebrews 13:12). Not with our good works or generosity are we sanctified, but by the blood of Jesus Christ. “Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.” Are you seeking the heavenly city, do you want to go to the heavenly city? You will not miss it in Jesus’ name.  “For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie” (Revelation 22:15). Understand that whatever happens, no sorcerer nor wicked person that destroys other people’s lives will get to heaven. Lying does not come into the work of God. The end does not justify the mean. Hypocrisy, deception and lying are not compatible with holiness. People who trade in these if they don’t repent, will not get to Heaven. Telling lies to help the church is inexcusable and does not qualify you for heaven. The cleansing water and the word of God that bring grace into our lives is still available today. And as we come to the Lord for cleansing so that we can be holy in the inner man and in every way, the Lord will do it, we will be holy. And as we preserve this doctrine, it will be preserved in our hearts, families, place of work, community and every one of our actions in Jesus’ name. “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14).

Ponder on this! There are many who may not be watching Television but are watching polluted things on their tablets, iPads and phones which make the heart impure. We stand on where we have always stood that, blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. If you are having anything that secretly makes you impure and polluted, may the Lord deliver you. May He keep us pure and righteous and preserve us in the experience of holiness, that we will not be missing when the trumpet shall sound. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.
